To do this on our Windows 10 computer, just go to the connection icon at the bottom right of the taskbar and disconnect the Wi-Fi connection. At this point we reactivate the wireless connection of the PC and check if the Internet speed problems persist. If this technique does not work then we have to move on to slightly more complex actions, but which can still be carried out by anyone and in very few clicks.
Check your network speed
Sometimes the problems reside in the computer's network card. Luckily find out the maximum data reception and transmission speed of the network card on Windows 10 it's very easy. First we press the Windows key (the window-shaped one) plus X. And then click on the Command Prompt. Once the manual commands table is open, insert the text: netsh wlan show interfaces and press Enter. A list will appear from which we can check the receiving frequency of the line (Mbps) and transmission speed (always in Mbps) maximum for our network card.
Perform a Speedtest
To easily check our connection speed and any problems we can perform a speedtest. To do this, we can download the Microsoft Network Speed Test app from the Windows Store. Once installed, just press Start and the program checks automatically. This method will allow us to know the download speed and loading speed.
Use a metered connection
On Windows 10 you can set one wireless Internet connection according to consumption. This means that the data used to go online will not be wasted if we are not actually browsing online. This is a very useful solution if we do not have an unlimited monthly Internet plan at home. To set this function just go to Settings, then on Network and Internet> WiFi> Manage known networks. In the tab that will open, click on the item that identifies our home connection and move the checkbox of the Connection to Consumption item to Activate.
Track data usage
Always if we do not have an unlimited plan at home and we want to avoid blocks or slowdowns caused by the end of our Internet data, it is advisable track the consumption of each software and application. Windows 10 has a program that automatically shows us the consumption of each program in the last 30 days of connection. To use it we go into the settings and then up Network and Internet> Data usage> View usage details.
