How to know which windows i have

  • How to know that Windows 10 I have
  • Preliminary information

Before getting into the tutorial, then going to answer the question "How do I know that I have Windows?", there are some preliminary information in this regard that it is my duty to provide you, in order to avoid various misunderstandings.

First, keep in mind that, usually, when you ask what Windows you are using, we refer toedition operating system running on the computer, such as Windows 10, Windows 8 / 8.x, Windows 7 etc.

To get a complete picture of the situation, however, the version build and l 'architecture of the OS. In case you are not aware of it, the version and the build, which are indicated with a progressive series of numbers (e.g. 1909 for the version and 18363.592 for the build) indicating the exact variant of Windows in use, that is the exact update that appears to be installed on the PC.

The architecture, which can be 32-bit or 64-bit, indicates, instead, the differences in the management of information by the processor installed on the PC. Note that 64-bit versions of Windows are capable of using larger amounts of memory than 32-bit versions of the operating system.

I also invite you to pay attention to the fact that, if proceeding as you find reported in this tutorial, you should discover that you are using Windows 7 or an earlier edition, you would do well (indeed, more!) to consider updating the OS in use as soon as possible a Windows 10, which is the latest operating system made available by Microsoft at the time of writing this article.

As things currently stand, Windows 7 and older versions of the system are no longer officially supported by Microsoft and dedicated updates are no longer released. In a nutshell, this means that by continuing to use it, in addition to not being able to take advantage of the recent features introduced by the company on the less "old" operating systems, you could run the risk of running into security problems. For more details on how to upgrade, you can check out my tutorials specifically focused on how to upgrade Windows 7 to Windows 10 and how to upgrade to Windows 10.
